Dandemutande’s Commitment to Fighting Cholera in Zimbabwe

Over the past year, Zimbabwe has faced a persistent cholera outbreak, prompting collaborative efforts by the government, businesses, and communities to curb the disease. These efforts include setting up treatment centers, rolling out awareness campaigns, and improving water, sanitation, and hygiene services.

In a demonstration of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Dandemutande Investments contributed to this fight with a donation to the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital on March 4, 2024. The donation included 50 pairs of gumboots for healthcare workers and 50 knapsack sprayers for disinfecting hospital premises. These resources aim to protect healthcare staff and reduce the spread of cholera within the institutions.

Cholera, caused by the bacteria Vibrio Cholerae, is highly contagious and linked to poor sanitation. While most cases are mild, severe symptoms like acute watery diarrhea and dehydration can be fatal without treatment.

During the handover ceremony, attended by senior representatives of the hospitals, Dandemutande’s Head of Customer Experience, PR, and Market Research, Cassandra Chiumbu – Maseko, emphasized the company’s commitment to reducing the burden of preventable diseases and supporting the community. This donation reflects Dandemutande’s broader dedication to creating a healthier and more sustainable future for Zimbabwe.
